FTA  

Future Teachers of America

This is a service learning class.

    FTA is a class for seniors at CCHS.  Anyone who is interested in becoming any kind of an educator should definitely take this class.  The Future Teachers of America program includes the students going to the elementary or middle school to help out in the classroom.  FTA students will  partake in any of the following during everyday classroom life:

Responsibilities:

-Writers Workshop                 

-Reading to the class             

-One on one teaching          

-Make lesson plans                

-Drill with flash cards                

-Grade papers

-Record Student Progress

-Lead Discussions

-Re-teach to small groups

-Students read to you

 In order to become an FTA, seniors must attain specific criteria.  

Not just anyone can be an FTA!

  WANT TO JOIN HERE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS:

-Be a senior at CCHS

-A clean discipline record at CCHS

-A 3.0 or better GPA

-You must provide your own transportation to your school

-You must have a time free to schedule the class.

   Some people think that this is a slack-off class, but they've got another thing coming.  In order for students to receive an "A", students must turn in the "Cooperating Teacher's Preparation Report," along with the FTA evaluation sheet. 

   The FTA program is an outstanding way to see if you would enjoy a career in education.  Once you have completed the program, I'm sure you will!
