The
"Eyes of the Tiger" Project
Given
by the Class of 2005
|
|
|
The
class of 2005 gift to CCHS is now installed. See it in the
glass wall of the new addition of the science and math wing. The stained
glass art is 6 feet in diameter and hangs 24 feet high inside the glass
wall.

Class
members and 2005 officers came to CCHS Nov 21st at 11:00PM to present
the "Eyes of the Tiger" as their class gift. "We
hope it will be enjoyed by all CCHS Tigers for many, many
years." Dr. Compton thanked the grads and all were then
offered a tour of the new school improvements. Below see a picture
taken later when some more 2005 grads showed up to join in our celebration.

Sarah
and Laura, class officers, display the basic layout provided by Barry Dolan
the artist. The
"Eyes of the Tiger" project will be finished and on display by
11-1-06.

|
Below we see Barry Dolan, the
architectural glass
artist, showing the scaled design. |
 |
|
Below you see the full size layout ready to cut the glass. The original
design has been scaled to the final 6' diameter size. The finished art weigh around 140 pounds.
|
 |
|
Below you see the upper and lower
tiger sections with the blades of grass bordering the panels. |
 |
|
Below you see the center panel of
three. All three will be assembled then the custom wood frame will
form most of the structural strength of the piece. |
 |
 |
 |
|
Here
we see the upper panel with back lighting. It
looks even more impressive when it hangs in the glass panel of our new
classroom section at CCHS. |
 |
|
The project
has developed nicely. We are
making the special mounting clamps and the project should have it's wooden frame
soon. Mr. Lambrecht arranged for the scissors scaffolding to safely mount
the art at the 24' level of the new building.
|
|
The
scissors lift was used to mount the 6' diameter stained glass art 24 feet
above the floor. The window is 9' 2" form the rail of the stair
landing.
Students
can see clear through Rudd Park from this high landing. Jake Mouriquand is
mounting the first clamp on the window rail in this picture.

The glass work looks totally
different up closer than it does from more than 30' away.

The hanging "Eyes of the
Tiger" looks very good a night with the back lighting. However,
my camera does not take good pictures at night.
|
|
We are currently looking into changing or adding to the
lighting to accent the tiger eyes at night.
