Goals of this lesson: Learn to identify common symbols used on electrical plans and make a cost estimate as you read the technical drawing provided.     Building job skills!  Lesson 4

 

This lesson is taken out of order or context.  There are four beginning lessons that are done before you get to this lesson.  If you feel a little lost it's because you have not done the first four lessons.  You are doing this lesson just to see if you might want to take this course and learn to make technical drawings and read blueprints.  This is a very employable job skill.

This lesson assumes that you have Acrobat Reader 6.0 or above, Microsoft Office 2000 or newer, PowerPoint 2000 or newer, a basic understanding of computer operations and the ability to e-mail files to a given address.

2.  Floor Plan - load this PDF file onto your screen. 

You might want to print it if changing computer screens is difficult for you to understand. 

3.  Print out or have the symbols pages keeping them ready as you examine the floor plan.

5.  Load up the Excel spreadsheet and start work on your estimate after saving a copy to your files.

6. You will need to determine some information for your estimate by looking at the

 Elevation views.  (Such as: Air Conditioning / Air Cooling  External Lighting  Etc.)

 7. E-mail your finished estimate to your instructor at geesamm@gmail.com as an attachment for evaluation and return to you.
