What does Student Council do?
Student Council is a service organization with in Caņon City High School.  At the beginning of the year Student Council puts on fun activities for Freshman day.  Student Council puts on Homecoming Week and Springfest Week, but NOT prom.  In addition to dances and spirit weeks, Student Council aims for one or two student activities a month.  However, Student Council not only does things for students, but for teachers too!  At the end of each year Student Council hosts an appreciation banquet in honor of our retirees and our teachers.  The retirees receive a special toast and the teachers get roasted every five years of teaching here at Caņon City High School. In attempt to keep our school looking nice and comforting, each Student Council Member is required to do one school improvement project.

What are the qualifications to run for Student Council?
Anyone is eligible to run for a representative position.  If you wish to run for Head Boy or Head Girl a minimum of a year on CCHS Student Council is required.

How do I get onto Student Council?
At the end of each year announcements will be given informing everyone that petitions for next year's Student Council are available.  You must get 20 signatures on your petition.  After your petition is turned in you are welcome to campaign until the day of the election(s).

How are Head Boy and Head Girl decided?
Head Boy and Head Girl are each required to get 20 signatures on their petitions as well.  Then they are free to campaign until the election date.  If the losing candidates are then put on (if they wish) the ballot for Student Council representative.

What if I'm not elected to Student Council?
If you're not elected to Student Council it's not the end of the world!  Pick up an informational questionnaire in Mrs. Carochi's room or Mr. Bray's room. Fill it out, and give it to Mrs. Carochi or Mr. Bray and they will decide if you're an asset to the council.  Most people make it.
